The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state has now reached 6,539 – with a total of 228 confirmed deaths resulting from the illness.
According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 888 people have been hospitalized thus far, and the number tested stands a 74,162
Cherokee County currently has 14 confirmed cases out of 135 people having been tested; in DeKalb County there have been 74 positive results out of 881 tests; following 1,064 tests in Etowah County there are 126 confirmed cases; and Calhoun County has 90 confirmed cases after a total of 1,134 people being tested there.
