A Cherokee County man was arrested over the weekend and charged with aggravated child abuse. According to Chief Deputy Josh Summerford the Sheriff’s Office received information regarding an incident of a child being injured, and an investigation into the matter was then launched.
It was quickly determined that a young child had indeed suffered physical injury, and taken to the hospital. As a result Timothy Lane Stephens, age 28 of Cedar Bluff was placed under arrest – charged with one count of aggravated child abuse. He was jailed shortly after 10:00pm Sunday and remains in the Cherokee County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
The child was removed from the home by DHR.
No additional information is being released at this time and the investigation is on-going.
