American Apparel in Centre Now Producing Face Masks to Help Fight COVID-19 / CEO Chuck Lambert Speaks with WEIS RADIO

One of Cherokee County’s leading employers – and a company positioned at the forefront of manufacturing combat uniforms for all branches of the military – American Apparel, is now producing much–needed face masks to help in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Wednesday morning – WEIS Radio News spoke with American Apparel President & CEO Chuck Lambert via phone about the project, which quickly grew in size:

February 10, 2020 – American Apparel, Inc. is pleased to announce the promotion of Chuck Lambert as President and Chief Executive Officer of American Apparel, Inc. effective immediately. Mr. Lambert has been employed by American Apparel, Inc. since 2005 and has held a number of manufacturing positions within the Company with the most recent being Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Lambert has had extensive experience in the apparel industry for the last 40 years, all concentrated in the State of Alabama.

American Apparel, Inc., was founded in 1987 and is one of the preeminent manufacturers of military garments in support of the Warfighter for all branches of the U.S. Military. The Company produces between 80,000 and 100,000 garments monthly and is a previous recipient of the prestigious Defense Logistics Agency Silver and Gold Star Award which is presented to suppliers with the highest rankings in areas such as performance, quality, and business relations.

The Company operates its corporate office in Selma, Alabama, and currently employs slightly less than 750 employees with four manufacturing facilities in Selma, Centre, Oneonta, and Opp, Alabama.
