Calhoun County Stand-Off Ends Peacefully

Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade informed WEIS Radio News that on Saturday (April 18th) at around 5:30pm his office received a call from a woman saying that her boyfriend had assaulted her and was threatening to harm their child with a gun.

The woman had left the residence on Lee Van Road in Alexandria, and then walked to a convenience store to make the call to 9-1-1.

Deputies met with her at the convenience store before going to the home and upon arrival the man fired two rounds at law enforcement; he then threatened to kill the children in the residence unless the deputies left the scene.

After negotiating with the subject, he released the occupants of the residence which were a 59 year old female, 13 and 10 year old males and a 5 month old female.

Sheriff’s Office negotiators continued to work with subject for approximately seven hours – during which time he fired his weapon four times inside the residence.  Eventually, he gave up peacefully and no one was injured during this event.

Charles Justin Allen, age 31 was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence and with two counts of Attempted Murder.

The bonds and court date will be set today (Monday, April 20th).
