Strong Storms Leave Downed Trees and Power Outages Across Cherokee County During Early Morning Hours of Thursday

Cherokee County experienced quite a few power outages during the early morning hours in the wake of strong thunderstorms moving through the area – mainly between 2:30 and 3:00am.

Outages were reported in portions of Centre, Cedar Bluff, Blanche and Boaz – and Cherokee Electric Co op crews are still working to restore power in some locations.  High winds and saturated ground combined to leave trees across the roadway throughout much of the county, keeping emergency personnel busy.

Motorists should slow down and be extra careful this morning especially on lesser-traveled back roads
