The Cherokee County Sheriff’s is investigating a homicide that occurred just after 11:00 a.m. on County Road 19 on Friday.

A juvenile was taken into custody on Friday afternoon for murder.  Deputies responded to a residence on County Road 19 just after 11 A.M. on Friday after a 911 call was received about the shooting.  Deputies discovered a female who was deceased from an apparent gun shot wound.  The victim’s son, who is the suspect, was transported to juvenile detention. 

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Investigators, members of the Cherokee County Majors Crimes Unit, the JSU Center for Applied Forensics and the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office are all involved in the investigation.
