We received an email earlier this week from an individual in Norway who was able to pick up our A.M. signal some 4,000 miles away in Norway –
Hi, My name is Ole Forr. I’m a 62 year old radio enthusiast from Norway (Europe). I am a dairy farmer. married and have 2 sons. I like to try to pick up North American AM stations. Together with 3 friends we have an antenna project in Northern Norway Andøya).
I am going trough some of my recordings from November 15th 2019 I picked up a station I believe is WEIS on 990 AM. To prove this I attached a MP3 file with a recording made on the: DATE: 15TH OCTOBER 2019 Time: 4.58 a.m EST FREQUENCY: 990 AM I have recorded at 4:58 p.m EST : I have recorded a Jingle identification: “W-E-I-S” song by female. The jingle is so characteristic that I hope you recognize it.
Format sounds like Southern Gospel! I hope the recording and my transcription of what I hear prove I heard WEIS Can you confirm this is WEIS ? THANK YOU! Always very nice to hear a new Alabama station.
My receiver is a Perseus Broadband receiver and I heard WEIS on a 3000ft antenna in 305 degrees. I have been doing this hobby since 1970 and have soon received positive certification’s from 1300 USA stations on AM. I also have a HAM Radio license, LA6EIA, used to be very active but not so much the last years. THANK YOU! Mr. Ole Forr Forravegen 97 [1] N-2647 SOR-FRON NORWAY
