Heightened Security Measures Monday at Plainview School

Plainview School and DeKalb County Superintendent Jason Barnett have made statements regarding a potential threat at the school on Monday (February 3rd).

Both school officials and the superintendent have said everything appears to be secure, and safe, at the time, adding that law enforcement has reviewed and conducted an investigation into the matter, and there is an increased presence of security on campus to facilitate safety and to alleviate concerns.

Plainview School stated:

Parents and community: It has been brought to the Plainview administration’s attention that there have been rumors and allegations of a potential threat made towards Plainview High School for today, February 3, 2020. The school and district administration in cooperation with local and county law enforcement have worked diligently to review and conduct an investigation into the matter and do not believe there is any present danger. However, we take any and all concerns seriously as student, faculty and community safety is a primary concern. To facilitate safety and alleviate concerns, we will have an increased presence of security on campus as we follow a regular school day schedule.

Barnett stated:

We believe that all is safe and secure we want to make the following statement regarding an allegation surrounding Plainview School this morning.
