On Sunday afternoon church leaders from across a three county area filled the sanctuary at Goshen United Methodist Church in southern Cherokee County, to learn more about church safety and get tips on setting up Security Teams for churches.
Sheriff Jeff Shaver, Chief Investigator Michael Green and Investigator Tony Monroy all took part in making the presentation, sharing information on how to provide maximum security, without impeding worship services. The 94 attendees from 32 different churches received a wealth of information regarding everything they would need to do to begin the process of providing additional security for their church congregations.
That class lasted just over an hour – afterwards Green and Monroy told those gathered they would be glad to assist with setting up Security Teams.
