Burglary Scam Hitting Armuchee Area of Floyd County

Investigators are currently investing three incidents in the Armuchee area involving a man coming to a house to distract the occupant while another enters the home to burglarize the property. Police are asking the community to be observant of suspicious vehicles and take notes of any unusual activity.

In each of the cases, a Hispanic male will ask the homeowner about being hired to clear a wooded lot next door and then inquire about parking heavy equipment nearby. When the property owner walks outside to check the property lines the other person enters the home – and in each of the cases they’ve used walkie-talkie communication, speaing in Spanish.

The suspects have reportedly stolen several thousand dollars in jewelry and cash since the 20th of December (2019).

The Hispanic male who makes contact with the homeowner is described as being in his late 30’s or early 40’s, with short black hair, is clean-cut, approximately 5-feet 7-inches tall with a heavy set build, and speaks English fluently.

The vehicle is an early 2000’s model gray Chevrolet Silverado.

If anyone has contact with these individuals or has information about the incidents, contact Sgt. Amy Nails at (706) 314-0756.

Anyone with a security video is encouraged to contact the Floyd County Police Department.
