According to a report by the Rome News Tribune, Rome neurosurgeon Dr. John Cowan has confirmed that a Centre-based business – Plaza Transport, Inc. – recently purchased a large warehouse building in the Floyd County Industrial Park for $1.1 million.

Cowan’s Cortex Toy Company will continue to rent space inside the building – and Five Star Vending Services will reportedly do the same.  Pete Lemons along with Jeff Chester and Tim Colbert is in the freight business with Plaza Transport.  Lemons, originally from Centre, but now residing in Rome, said that much of their work is in cotton hauling but they do logistics brokerage all over the country.

Lemons stated that he’d actually been thinking about buying some property and building a warehouse, when he was approached by a real estate company about the 19 Superior Drive location.  He said it took about three months to complete the deal – adding that he felt there was a lot of potential for expansion, and that they were definitely interested in adding on.
