Woman Injured When Vehicle Leaves Roadway and Crashes into Tree on Highway 273 in Cherokee County

We had a report of a single-vehicle accident on Alabama Highway 273 taking place around 7:15 Wednesday evening.

Various emergency personnel, including members of the Tucker’s Chapel Fire Department, Cherokee County Rescue Squad and Floyd EMS responded to the scene, where the driver of a 2013 Chevrolet had apparently lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway  and strike a tree.

According to reports, a portion of the tree fell on the vehicle, shattering the windshield with a limb impaling the driver inside. 

The victim, listed on the accident report as a resident of Mentone, Alabama – was rushed to a Rome-area trauma center.  No additional information has been made available regarding her condition.

That accident is under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
