The name of the individual who was fatally injured in a fiery crash on Alabama Highway 68 on Tuesday morning – has now been released.
Cherokee County Coroner Dr. Jeremy Deaton says the victim was identified as a resident of DeKalb County – 42 year old Jamie Lynn Murphy. She was pronounced dead at the scene after her 2014 Chevy Cruze collided with an 18-wheeler on 68 West, between Leesburg and Sand Rock. She was ejected from the vehicle. The 2014 Freightliner caught fire; however, the driver, a resident of Piedmont, managed to escape with only minor injuries.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report the collision took place at 10:42am.
The wreck remains under investigation by State Troopers.
