A wanted suspect is dead following an officer-involved shooting off Chulio Road in Rome on Sunday afternoon.

Floyd County Coroner Gene Proctor identified the man as 28-year old Jeffrey Tyler Aycock.

Police had been searching for Aycock since last Tuesday after he fired shots at Floyd County Police Officers as they were serving a warrant on Sam Harris Road.  Proctor said Aycock’s body is being sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is handling the probe into the shooting and is expected to release more information.  Two Chulio Road residents were jailed Sunday at around the same time the shooting occurred.  According to reports at the Floyd County Jail, 41-year old Guy Anthony Haney Jr. knew that Aycock was staying on his property.  Haney and 24-year old Victoria Jade Shaffer are both charged with felony hindering the apprehension of a criminal.
