8:00am Alabama Time/Thursday September 19th
Prior to 7:00 Alabama time on Thursday morning, a number of fire departments responded to a large fire at Benny’s Convenience Store on Highway 27 in Trion, Georgia.
Early reports indicate the fire possibly began in the kitchen area of the store – the business was known for their deli and served breakfast starting at 5:00am.
We’ve had no reports of any injuries in connection with the fire. As of 8:00am both lanes of Highway 27 remain closed due to the fire.
We’ll have more information as it becomes available.

According to Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader – a lengthy portion of Highway 27 in Trion, Georgia is completely shut down due to Benny’s convenience store being on fire.
Alabama residents going to work at Roper in Lafayette or Mt Vernon Mills in Trion – detour onto Memorial Drive or Menlo to Highway 337.
