Lakeside Primary Care Now Open in New Location on Chesnut Bypass in Centre

Lakeside Primary Care is now open in their new location on the Chesnut Bypass in Centre – we spoke with Aimee Kilgo following the recent ribbon-cutting ceremony conducted by the Chamber of Commerce and she told us about the move – and gave us a brief overview of the services they provide:

She stated that they accept almost ALL insurance packages, and as of October 1st they hope to be able to accept ALL Medicaid packages.  Lakeside has a lab here – meaning they usually have results ready within 24 hours.

Lakeside Primary Care provides a combined 15 years experience as nurse practitioners and a combined 45 years experience in healthcare.

AT LAKESIDE PRIMARY CARE:

We treat acute illnesses such as bronchitis, sinusitis, pneumonia, flu, strep, ear infections and UTI. Primary care services offered include management of chronic health conditions including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, chronic heart failure, and COPD. We offer simple laceration repair. We accept appointments for annual physicals including yearly exams for women. We offer lab services through LabCorp. We are currently accepting new patients and accept most insurances.

Findings of this systematic review suggest that APNs in primary care settings perform as well as physicians in terms of clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction. Results were mixed across studies regarding whether APNs ordered more diagnostic tests, and some evidence suggested APNs more frequently asked patients to return to the clinic after a consultation. APN consultations took slightly longer than physician consultations, but did not translate to overall increased costs. There was also evidence suggesting that APN patients required fewer total primary care visits, and that APNs demonstrated similar guideline adherence to physicians and provided more thorough patient education. Overall, APNs in these studies provided care that was in some ways different from care provided by physicians, but with comparable quality and at equal or lower cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a physician on site?

Lakeside Primary Care is a nurse practitioner owned clinic. We follow the guidelines of the Alabama Board of Nursing and Alabama Board of Medical Examiners which require a collaborative physician for medical oversight. Our collaborative physician does not plan to see patients in our clinic at this time.

What is the difference between an ANP and a FNP?

An ANP is an adult nurse practitioner and an FNP is a family nurse practitioner. School requirements are very similar, the only noticeable difference to our patient is that our ANP can only see patients 14 years old and older. An FNP can see a patient of any age.

Will you stay open late any days?

If we have the need to stay open late or open early, we will definitely consider all options. Our main goal is to do what is best for our patients.

Will you see someone who does not have insurance?

Yes, we have a cash price list for office visits and also a cash price on lab work. We can provide a cash price for any imaging that we recommend as well.

You don’t accept my insurance, what should I do?

Ask us to confirm that we do not accept your insurance. Often, it is due to the fact that an insurance company is not accepting new providers in our area. If we have not contacted your insurance company to set up an account, we will gladly request a contract with your provider.

Can you write a prescription for narcotics?

No, we will not prescribe narcotics. Our nation is currently suffering an epidemic of opioid abuse and overuse. Our clinic feels strongly that we will not contribute to this epidemic. Many times there are alternatives to opioids, we will gladly discuss this with you. If you do not agree with our philosophy, we will gladly refer you to another primary care provider or to chronic pain management.
