“Taste of Cherokee” Event is Tonight (Tuesday, September 10th) in the Gadsden State Cherokee Arena

The annual Taste of Cherokee event will take place today (Tuesday, September 10th, 2019), in the Gadsden State Cherokee Arena – 801 Cedar Bluff Road in Centre – with the buffet line opening at 5:30pm and the program getting underway at 6:00.

More than 30 area restaurants will be taking part, serving samples of their specialties.

The Cherokee County High School Band will be performing throughout the evening.  The Cherokee County Firefighters Honor Guard will present the colors prior to the Pledge of Allegiance and a special ceremony will honor the first responders who lost their lives or were injured in the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001.  Current first responders and military veterans will also be saluted.

Proceeds from the Taste of Cherokee event support upkeep of the Avenue of Flags which is displayed along U.S. Highway 411 from Centre to Leesburg on seven major holidays during the year (weather permitting).  The Avenue of Flags currently consists of a total of 441 flags representing deceased veterans from Cherokee County.
