TILLOTSON-MENLO FOUNDATION PROVIDES SERVICE FOR VISITORS TO CHEROKEE ROCK VILLAGE PARK

The Cherokee County Park Board with a grant from The Tillotson-Menlo Charitable Foundation is once again providing more services at Cherokee Rock Village.

The Park Board has just completed the installation of Park Benches strategically located to provide visitors with excellent views.  Some of those new park benches, along with picnic tables have been placed in various locations, including some camp sites and others in areas for visitors just to stop in for a picnic. The Park Board also installed several grills to give visitors the opportunity to enjoy cooking around their campsites and picnic areas.

The project was completed with assistance from volunteers Bubba and Levi Crabtree, Nevin Nabors and Aaron Mouchet, along with Park employees.

Park Board Chairman, LeAnn Hill tells WEIS Radio News the project would not have been possible without a $10,000 grant from the Tillotson-Menlo Foundation; the total cost of this project was $18,081. The Tillotson-Menlo Foundation has previously worked with the Park Board on other projects, including the Playground Equipment and the Observation Deck – and the Park Board is hoping to partner with the Foundation on other projects in the future

The Cherokee County Park Board invites everyone to enjoy some time in the great outdoors this fall at Cherokee Rock Village Park on County Road 70 at Leesburg. It’s a family oriented park with hiking trails, beautiful views, picnicking, camping, rock climbing, bird watching, and just relaxing and enjoy the beautiful scenery and fresh air.
