One person has been confirmed dead following a single vehicle accident on Friday afternoon occurring on Highway 411 South near County Road 245 in Leesburg.

That accident was reported at 3:19 p.m. Friday. Among other agencies, the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office and Alabama Law Enforcement Agency was called to the scene.

Cherokee County Coroner Dr. Jeremy Deaton has identified the victim as  76 year old Glen Houston Spears of Sand Rock.  Chief Deputy Coroner Paul McDonald and Deputy Coroner Jennifer Reynolds pronounced Spears dead on the scene. The cause of death has been determined to be natural causes prior to the accident.

No other injuries were reported.
