The Rome Police Department continues to search for a teenager wanted in connection with the shooting death of 26 year old Jonathan Lynn Hull of a Walnut Avenue address in Rome.  On Saturday around 5:30pm a ‘shots fired’ call was reported outside an apartment complex located at 3 Cliff View Drive.  Hull was discovered outside the building and a resident began first aid and alerted responding personnel there was an actual shooting at the location.

Hull was transported to Floyd Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.  The body has since been transported to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.

The suspect has been identified as 18-year old Joe Paul Atwater, whose last known address was Chambers Street in Rome. He is considered dangerous. Warrants have been issued for Aggravated Assault and Felony Murder.

Anyone with information on the shooting incident OR on Atwater’s current whereabouts, is urged to contact the Rome Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
