Tractor Supply Co. Coming To Centre

During the Tuesday meeting of the Centre City Council, to approve a variance for a sign for the business at the recommendation of the Variance Committee. Mayor Wilkie said that the business will be located on the Chestnut Bypass next to Ag-Pro across from Harris Furniture. 

Ground work is already being done at the site and construction will begin immediately. Mayor Wilkie said that official press release from the company would be available soon.

In other business, the council approved the reappointment of Ethel Carson to the Hatcher Community Center Committee. 

The council also voted to list a piece of city property located in the Industrial Park. The town must acquire at least two appraisals on the property before moving forward. Presently there is a business interested in acquiring the property.

The council also met briefly with a property owner located on East Main Street. The City Building Inspector sent a certified letter informing them of a violation of the city’s Lean & Clean Ordinance. The property is the location of the former cattle sale barn behind the Waffle King. The property owner has done some cleanup work and says that they plan continue to do more work. They are requesting an extension on the 45 day time frame so that they can discuss the demolition of the building with a contractor. 

The council voted to continue the hearing regarding the matter at the next council meeting.
