The driver of an 18-wheeler was hurt after that big rig left the roadway and overturned just prior to 9:00am Monday approximately three miles outside of Centre. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, the Ellisville Fire Department, State Troopers, and Floyd EMS all responded to the location on Highway 9 near the intersection with County Road 380, where the tractor trailer – which was hauling bales of cotton – apparently got off onto the soft shoulder of the road, causing the driver to lose control.
Witnesses said the man, a resident of Weaver, Alabama was being checked out at the scene; he was then transported to an area hospital for treatment.
That wreck remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
