Local Fire Departments Conduct Joint Training Session

The Piedmont Fire Department along with Spring Garden and Borden Springs Volunteer Fire Departments recently conducted a joint training session, new firefighters were placed in a room with little to no visibility compliments of a fog machine that produces very thick theatre type smoke, firefighters were taught various skills in these limited sight conditions which are common place inside a burning structure.

Firefighters also practiced search and rescue techniques while having to negotiate various obstacles, such as an entanglement box, wall stud simulator, attic crawl and stairways crawl.

All firefighters who participated in the exercise did an outstanding job; future joint training exercises have been planned including a live burn inside the Alabama Fire Colleges burn trailer later this fall.
