18 Wheeler Overturned on Highway 68 off of County Road 44 East of Cedar Bluff Monday Morning / UPDATED

The driver of an 18 wheeler lost control of the rig east of Cedar Bluff near Harton’s Store, at approximately 7:00am Monday.

The 2019 Kenworth, which was hauling a load of sand went off Highway 68 and rolled onto its top, injuring the driver – identified as 41 year old James Lamar Massengill of Plainville, Georgia – in the process. 

He was carried to Floyd Medical Center in Rome with non-life threatening injuries by Floyd EMS.  Also responding to the scene were Cedar Bluff Police and Fire Units, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, members of the Cherokee County EMA and Alabama State Troopers.

The accident was investigated by the Cedar Bluff Police Department.
