A Gadsden man was fatally injured early Thursday morning, when his pickup truck collided with an 18-wheeler just across the line into Etowah County on Highway 411.
According to a report by AL.COM Alabama State Troopers said that 67 year old Willie James Clarke – who was driving a 2002 Ford F-150 – reportedly crossed the center line of U.S. 411 and hit a 2018 Freightliner just prior to 7:20am near the old Stone Animal Clinic building at Croft Ferry Road.
The pickup caught fire as a result of the crash. Troopers said Clarke, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
No additional information is being released as that accident remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
