Rome Police Searching for Murder Suspect / UPDATED

Rome Police have released the identity of the individual shot and killed in South Rome late Thursday evening.

Authorities responded to reports of shots fired in the 500 block of Hardy Avenue, and when officers arrived they discovered a man lying on the ground near a gold truck, suffering from several gunshot wounds. They began administering first aid until EMS arrived.

The man, later identified as 74-year old Johnny Lewis Price, was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Criminal Investigators determined that 46-year old Wallace Junior Chambers Jr., had gotten into an altercation with Price a short time earlier.

According to witness statements Chambers had retrieved a gun shot Price and then fled the scene.

Warrants have been secured for Chambers for Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault.  He’s described as a black male, standing five-feet-six (5’6”) weighing approximately 155 pounds.
