Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver has informed WEIS Radio News that another scam is making the rounds in Cherokee County, this one involving someone claiming to be from the Sheriff’s Office

Sheriff Shaver said that his office has received calls from citizens informing them that someone has been calling residents saying they are from the Sheriff’s Office and demanding money to clear up a warrant and avoid arrest.

Sheriff Shaver told us this is a scam, DO NOT fall for it. Shaver said that if you do have a warrant or other legitimate business with the Sheriff’s Office they certainly will not call you by phone and will never demand money to avoid arrest, it just does not work that way.

Don’t be a victim of this scam and as we have told numerous times, never ever send money to anyone without proper verification.
