John Martin Meyer

John Martin Meyer, age 72 of Cedar Bluff, AL, passed away Friday, May 24th at his residence.

A Funeral Mass service will be 11am Tuesday, May 28th with visitation from 10 until 11 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Mission with Father Mark Spruill officiating.  Father Henry McInerney will officiate a Memorial Service at 11am Saturday, June 1st at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula, MS with visitation from 10 until 11am at the funeral home; burial will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula, MS.

Pallbearers include William Wright, Jonathan Williams, Christian Meyer, Hayden Johnson, Hunter Johnson, and Samuel Hall.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Carolyn Hall Meyer; son, Kenneth (Amy) Meyer of Biloxi, MS; daughters, Vicky (George) Wright of DeLisle, MS, Stacy Bass of D’Iberville, MS, Melissa Jett of Vancleave, MS; brother, Frank Meyer of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren, Jennifer (Kris) McKenzie, Brenna (Justin) Dowdle, Christina Scaife, Travis Williams, William (Courtney) Wright, Jonathan (Jordan) Williams, Jacquelyn (Hunter) McGrew, Nicole Caillavet, Kayla Caillavet, Brooklyn Meyer, Christian Meyer, Hayden Johnson, Hunter Johnson, and Caralynn Jett; great grandchildren, Elizabeth & William McKenzie, Anna, Bayleigh & Justin Dowdle, Jr., Brady Wright, Aubrey, Cameron, Jaxon & Scarlett McGrew.

Mr. Meyer was a native of Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Frank August and Mary Ann Ocedek Meyer.  Mr. Meyer was an Honorary Member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd and 4th Degree.  He served as Grand Knight and his family was named Family of the Year for the State of Mississippi. Mr. Meyer was a Vietnam Veteran and was a founding member of St. Michael Catholic Mission.
