Representative Ginny Shaver Discusses New “Hundred Foot Boating Bill” Legislation

With summertime here and the end-of-school just around the corner, Representative Ginny Shaver has taken the first step toward making Alabama’s lakes and rivers safer, through the introduction of new legislation.  Ms. Shaver – who recently stopped by WEIS Radio following her return from Montgomery – tells us more:

Representative Shaver says she has spoken often with residents about the legislation, and a large number of individuals have expressed their concerns about the safety of boaters, and others, on Weiss Lake – saying they wish to see such a law enacted.

Weiss Lake Improvement Association President Mark Collins spoke with members of the County Commission, asking for their support of the law.  The Commission added that item to the agenda of their March 25th meeting, with a resolution of support read by District IV’s Carlton Teague being approved afterwards.

That resolution was then sent to both Senator Andrew Jones, and to Representative Shaver, with our local elected officials once again responding to those concerns raised by the residents of Cherokee County, and taking action on the matter.

We’ll follow up on the progress of the bill introduced by Representative Shaver.
