There will be no further action taken regarding allegations against former Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin.
The investigation was started last year when Mary Elizabeth Cross of Tuscaloosa accused Entrekin of having sexual relations with her when she was under the legal age of consent in 1992. Local police in Blount County had opened an investigation into the claims before the state stepped in.
After the Alabama Attorney General’s Office took over the situation, it was then sent to the Etowah County District Attorney’s office where it was reviewed by Alabama’s State Bureau of Investigation. The matter was then closed without any further action taken. Contacted by AL.com, the attorney general’s office declined to comment and would not confirm or deny the report. Entrekin’s attorney also declined to comment about the situation.
