The All New Slackland Beach Park Set To Open This Weekend In Leesburg

The all new Slackland Beach located at the end of County Road 20 near Slackland Baptist Church has been a popular undeveloped site on Alabama Power property for many years.

During the Coosa Hydro project re-licensing process, it was determined this would be a good site to develop into a formal day-use park.  Construction of the park began in fall 2018.  Due to the summer-type of amenities there, it is scheduled to open for summer season on Saturday, May 4.

The park will be open from dawn till dusk and monitored daily.  Amenities are swimming, picnicking and there’s a small walking trail abound the border of the property.  There’s a designated swimming area, bank fishing, picnic tables and benches, a gazebo, restrooms and interpretive signage along the trail.  An additional boardwalk for the trail may be added later.

Admission to the park is absolutely free!

The site is owned and operated by Alabama Power.

You can view an exclusive video tour of the park below!
