East Alabama Regional Planning And Development Commission Holds Their Regular Meeting In Cherokee County On Wednesday

The East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission held their regular meeting in Cherokee County Wednesday. The event was held at the pavilion at Cherokee Rock Village Park.  Municipal, County, Tourism and Economic Development officials from across the 10 county area served by the Commission were in attendance along with Kenneth Boswell Director of ADECA. Director Boswell greeted the group with a special message from his boss:

Director Boswell stressed the importance of the upcoming 2020 US Census and the value it is to all Alabamians to participate. He said our Federal dollars coming into the state is based on population and it is vitally important that everyone living in the State be counted in order to keep the level of funding for Alabama. He asked everyone at the meeting to use their center of influence in their respective communities to get the Census done correctly.

After the catered lunch, Director Boswell toured Cherokee Rock Village Park with Park Board Chairman, Leann Hill. They looked at the progress and growth in the Park and the area of the upcoming expansion of the RV Campground by adding water and electricity to the existing 15 sites. The funding is on a 50/50 LWCF Grant with ADECA providing half the funds and the County Commission providing the other half. The project total is approximately $196,000. This addition will greatly enhance the services offered at the Park. Boswell complimented the Park Board during their regular meeting on the work completed and encouraged them to complete a Master Plan for the continued development of services offered at Cherokee Rock Village Park.
