Fort Payne Woman Arrested After Stealing A Vehicle From A Business In Centre

Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship says a Fort Payne woman was arrested on Thursday after stealing a vehicle belonging to an employee of Cherokee Glass. A co-worker of the victim informed him that someone had stolen his truck from the parking lot. Centre Police and surrounding agencies were notified and immediately began searching for the vehicle.

Cedar Bluff Police Investigator Chris O’Neal spotted the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Highway 68 East at Boundary Avenue, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Investigators also assisted in the stop. 27 year old Theresa Michelle Jennings was taken into custody by Investigator Randy Mayorga and taken to the Centre Police Department Headquarters for questioning before being transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center and booked in on charges of Theft of Property (motor vehicle) 1st Degree.

Jennings remains in jail without bond.

The vehicle was returned to its rightful owner.
