An 18 wheeler crashed on the Chesnut Bypass early Monday morning.
That big rig left the road and overturned, going down the embankment next to the parking lot of the Bypass Express at approximately 4:45am.
WEIS Radio News spoke with the driver of the truck, who was later identified on the Centre Police Department accident report as Gildardo Torres from Laredo, Texas, who managed to escape the accident completely unhurt. Centre Police and firefighters, along with Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene. Traffic was impacted slightly, with only one lane being blocked as a result of the mishap.
According to the accident report, Torres told officers he swerved to avoid hitting a deer and lost control of the truck.
