Georgia Governor Vows To Sign “Heartbeat Bill” Into Law

The highly debated and controversial “Heartbeat Bill” is being sent to Governor Brian Kemp. House Bill 481 was officially passed by the State House Friday afternoon.

The bill had the same support with local representatives.

Governor Kemp has promised to sign the Bill into law once it reaches his desk, Georgia would become the third state to pass such a strict abortion law.

This bill outlaw’s abortion after a doctor can detect a fetus has a heartbeat, which typically occurs around 6 weeks into the pregnancy. However, this bill does allow for special cases to be exempt from the deadline, particularly in rape or sexual assault cases.
