A man is dead after killing his child and shooting the child’s grandfather during a domestic disturbance in Ohatchee on Saturday.

Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade says the call was received around 1 p.m. on Kirksey Bend Road just off Highway 77.

Despite a protection order of abuse against him taken out by the child’s mother, 23 year old Trenton Gordon of Anniston had the child anyway. Sheriff Wade said Gordon shot the woman’s father then ran, then later shot the baby in the head, killing it.

Officers  applied a tourniquet to the child’s grandfather and the man drove himself to a Talladega hospital before being transported to a hospital in Birmingham.
