One Air-lifted Following Serious Accident on Highway 48 Between Menlo and Summerville

Georgia State Troopers continue to investigate a serious accident in neighboring Chattooga County on Thursday afternoon.

The official report has yet to be released, but according to witnesses a vehicle crashed into the rear of an SUV that was believed to have been stopped in preparation for making a turn.  The collision occurred at 3567 Highway 48 between Summerville and Menlo near the Wire-Tech facility.

The driver of the SUV reportedly suffered serious injuries and was transported from the scene by Redmond EMS to a location where they were met by Lifeforce Helicopter, with the victim then being flown to a Chattanooga area hospital.

Additional information will be provided once the accident report is completed.
