Three Arrested During Course of Investigation into RV Stolen from Cherokee County

Two men were arrested Wednesday after Floyd County Police say they were involved in transporting an RV that had been reported stolen in Cherokee County, Alabama.  According to Floyd County Jail records, 50-year old Christopher Junior Clonts of a McHenry Drive address in Rome and 47-year old Ronnie Heath Norton of Temple, Georgia were both charged with theft by receiving stolen property after a Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputy identified the RV, which is valued at more than 1,500.  Norton is also charged with driving with a suspended license.  Both men were taken into custody on Lynn Drive at Rebecca Drive in Rome at around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

A Collinsville, Alabama man was arrested at around the same time at that same location.  43-year old Gary Jody Childers was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of methamphetamine and possession of meth with intent to distribute.  Police say Childers showed up at the location while officers were there investigating the RV theft.  He was in possession of 24 grams of meth and two long guns, which were found behind the seat of his truck.
