One person was injured in a single vehicle crash on Monday.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report stated Gaylesville resident Imogene Houston was traveling northbound on Highway 68 near the 4-way stop in Gaylesville when her vehicle swerved off the road to the left – winding up in the muddy creek below.
The accident call came in at approximately 2:05pm with several emergency units, including the Gaylesville Fire Department, Cedar Bluff Police and Cherokee County Rescue Squad – all rapidly responding. Emergency personnel rushed into the water, where they extracted the injured woman from the vehicle using a floatation stretcher. She was alert, and reportedly complaining of issues with her back. Houston was transported to Floyd Hospital in Rome by Floyd EMS.
That accident remains under investigation by a State Trooper who was also on the scene.
