Four-Alarm Fire Occurs At Cherokee Manor Apartments

A four-alarm fire occurred in Centre.

Firefighters responded to a report of a fire at the 200 building of the Cherokee Manor Apartments on Monday. All residents were quickly and safely evacuated.

The call went out at approximately 1:15 pm – Cedar Bluff, Spring Creek, Leesburg, and Centre Fire Departments all arrived to the scene and managed to quickly disperse of the flames in the 14-unit apartment building. The structure sustained fire damage to one unit at the front right side of the building, with smoke and water damage throughout.

No injuries were reported, and the cause has been related to a kitchen fire. A Cherokee County Sheriff’s Unit and Floyd EMS also responded to the scene, and the Red Cross has responded to provide shelter to those displaced by the incident.

Centre Fire Chief Jeremy Lee would like to extend his gratitude to the men and women from the units that responded from all four departments.
