The search for 68 year old Dickie Stewart ended tragically on Wednesday morning after his body was discovered in a pond located close to his home on the Alabama Highway in Coosa.
Stewart, who suffered from dementia and Parkinson’s, apparently wandered away from his residence around midnight. According to reports, a relative flagged down an officer a short time later at Evans Truck Stop to report that Stewart was missing, The Police Department immediately mobilized additional manpower with the Georgia State Patrol helicopter being called in, using infrared technology to help with the search while on the ground tracking dogs were brought in.

Police are searching for a man who apparently walked away from his home located at 5830 Alabama Highway near Evans Store around midnight.
Floyd County Police were notified a short time later and initiated search operations, which ran throughout the overnight hours with no luck. Just after daybreak, Officer Chris Fincher contacted WEIS Radio to ask our listeners that may work in Floyd County or be traveling the Alabama Highway into Rome be on the lookout for someone walking alongside the road.

Again he currently differs from the social media photo in that he is NOW clean-shaven.
