Search Resumes For Missing DeKalb County Teen Swept Away By Flood Waters At Bucks Pocket Park

Search efforts resumed Monday in Buck’s Pocket for missing DeKalb County teen.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, in conjunction with Alabama State Parks, is coordinating with local rescue squads to continue shoreline searches along the creek.

Waterborne searches are still on hold pending lower water levels in the creek.

Crews have been searching for 18 year old Koy Spears after his Jeep was swept away in flood waters at Bucks Pocket State Park over a week ago. Deputies said that they did find a vehicle in the water last week but it was unsafe at the time to pull it out.

Rescue workers did manage to save two other teenagers who managed to hang onto a tree until they were pulled to safety.

The search had been suspended due to inclement weather and unsafe conditions.
