EMA Asks WEIS Radio to Re-activate Disaster Relief Fund to Aid Flood Victims; Funds Will Also Help Care for Rescued Animals

The Emergency Management Agency has requested that WEIS Radio re-activate a program that has been put into effect in years past in times of need.

The WEIS Radio Disaster Relief Fund is now accepting donations – please consider making a donation to help assist those that have been affected by the recent flooding.  Donations may be made by cash or through check, credit or debit card – and are currently being accepted at the WEIS Radio Studios 477 South Pratt Street in Centre – during regular business hours Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm OR simply by calling (256) 927-5152 or (256) 927-4232.  You can mail checks or donations to P.O. Box 297 Centre, Al  35960.  Make the checks payable to the WEIS Radio Disaster Relief Fund

All monies received will go to help victims across Cherokee County.  No amount is too great or too small.

A portion of those funds collected will go toward feeding and care of animals rescued from the flood waters.  Those animals will be sheltered at the Softball Complex – located behind Gadsden State Cherokee in Centre.  If you prefer your monetary donation go toward animal care, simply note that on your check; or state that, when you make your gift through credit or debit card or cash gift.

If you’ve been displaced through flooding and are staying somewhere that doesn’t allow for pets to be there, you can also house domesticated pets, such as cats and dogs, at the Softball Complex for a limited time – simply sign them in with the proper contact information.

For additional information call (256) 484-1071.

We’ll have information regarding the distribution of funds in the coming days.
