Spring Garden Girls and Boys Advance to Northeast Regional Championship Games

Spring Garden has plenty of reason to celebrate after watching both their teams yesterday evening capture huge wins in the Northeast Regional Semifinal round at JSU’s Pete Mathews Coliseum.

Spring Garden’s #2 ranked and 1A Area 11 champion girls got the energy going first with a big confidence boosting 49-38 win over Area 15 champion and #8 ranked RA Hubbard, the last 1A team to beat the Spring Garden girls which was back at the 2017 1A Girls State Championship game. Macy Reedy led the way for the Lady Panthers, finishing the day with a statline of 18 points off of 6-15 shooting (4-11 from 3 point range and 2-2 from the free throw line), 4 rebounds (1 offensive, 3 defensive), 1 assist, and 2 steals. With the win, Spring Garden’s girls head to the Regional Championship game to take on the winner of #3 Skyline vs #5 Talladega County Central, with that game being on Tuesday, February 19th at 3:00 PM.

Following that game, it was the Area 11 champion and #3 ranked Spring Garden boys showing a very aggressive gameplan that resulted in that soaring to a 91-65 win over Area 15 champion Lindsay Lane. Isaiah Sanchez was the big stat leader coming off the bench, finishing the game with 31 points off 13-19 shooting (2-7 from 3 and 3-4 from the line), 7 rebounds all on defense, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Spring Garden’s boys advance as well to the Regional Championship, where they will meet the winner of #5 Skyline vs Winterboro on Tuesday, February 19th at 4:45 PM.

Congrats and good luck to both Spring Garden squads as they look to build off today’s wins and look to capture 1A Northeast Regional crowns and trips to Birmingham on Tuesday.
