Anniston City Councilman Ben Little turned himself in Monday night at the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office – in the wake of being indicted by a Calhoun County Grand Jury. According to a report by the Anniston Star, that indictment accuses Little of voting on legislation in which he knew he had a conflict of interest and a matter in which he had a financial interest – he was jailed on charges of violating state ethics laws.
Calhoun County District Attorney Brian McVeigh confirmed a Grand Jury indicted Little. He also stated that the State Attorney General’s Office will be handling the case while Cherokee County Deputy District Attorney Scott Lloyd acts as prosecutor.
If convicted on either charge, Little could be facing up to 20 years in prison, and a fine of up to $30,000.
