A Higdon man was fatally injured in a single-vehicle accident taking place on Highway 117 in DeKalb County Wednesday afternoon.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report says that crash occurred at 5:20pm – when a 2013 Chevrolet driven by 29 year old Jimmy Richard Morgan left the roadway and struck a tree, approximately two miles south of Mentone.

Morgan, who was not using a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Public Information Office Curtis Summerville stated the wreck remains under investigation by state troopers.
