The Alabama woman accused of striking a Dade County, Georgia Sheriff’s Office employee with her car during a high speed chase last August – has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term.  Lora Wooten of Ft Payne was being pursued by Ft Payne Police – and a number of other law enforcement agencies – in the more than 30 mile chase which started in DeKalb County and ended in Trenton, Georgia, when Wooten’s vehicle hit Major Tommy Bradford – who was in the process of laying down spike strips in an attempt to bring her to a stop.  After hitting Bradford, Wooten continued north toward the center of Dade County.  She was finally stopped by deputies near the old courthouse in Trenton’s main square.

Bradford suffered multiple injuries and eventually lost a leg due to the impact of the vehicle – he continues to recover from the incident.

The chase began when officers attempted to confront Wooten about a burglary in Ft Payne around 1:30 that afternoon.

She appeared in court on Thursday of this week (January 10th 2019) and was charged with a total of 19 different counts in connection with the chase and theft – she was sentenced to forty years in prison, with fifteen to serve before being eligible for parole.
