According to information in a report released Tuesday, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Public Information Officer Curtis Summerville said a chase involving a motorcycle rider and law enforcement officials led to a fatal accident on Monday night.

William Lee Gifford, age 30 of Section was killed when the 2014 Yamaha motorcycle he was operating collided with a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe.  Gifford was pronounced dead at the scene meanwhile the driver of the Tahoe was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

That crash took place at 8:45pm on Alabama 35, at the 39 mile marker, three miles south of Section. 

No information regarding the circumstances surrounding the reason behind that chase was provided in the report.

The incident remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
