Details remain sketchy, however WEIS Radio has learned that one person is in custody following a high speed chase through Centre.
The pursuit began at around 11:30 Sunday night in Piedmont, and continued into Centre on the Piedmont Highway, with Centre Police attempting to stop the suspect thorough the use of spike strips near the Cherokee County Animal Shelter.
That chase continued across East Main Street and the East Bypass, before the driver made a left turn into the parking lot of Gadsden State Cherokee. The subject then bailed out and he tried to flee on foot before quickly being caught by Leesburg Investigator Jamie Chatman.
After running the registration the vehicle the suspect had been driving came back as having been stolen out of Floyd County, Georgia.
We’ll have additional information as it becomes available.
