It was a brief meeting of the Piedmont City Council on Thursday, which had been rescheduled due to the New Year’s holiday.
With a unanimous vote, the council passed a resolution extending the city’s current contract with the Alabama Municipal Electrical Authority for another 10-year period.
AMEA is a consortium of 11 local public power utilities from across the state that, together, enable communities like Piedmont to purchase low-cost electricity and take advantage of the latest technologies to better serve their customers.
In other business, bills for payment were approved in the amount of $477,396.92.
The next regular Piedmont City Council Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 15th, immediately following the work session, which is set for 5:30pm.
